| what can you get out of volunteering ? |
|
| volunteering can offer a range of different things for people, these are just a few: |
how many hours do I need to give ? |
- good for your C.V
- build confidence
- make friends
- personal development
- career development
- finding more out about the voluntary sector
- getting back into work after being unemployed
- rebuilding structure
|
We encourage volunteers to spend a minimum of 2 hours per week but this will be discussed on an individual basis. |
| how long do I have to be out of drug services/support services? |
| Generally we encourage people to have at least a 3-6 month break from services including prescrbing services. We look for individuals to have gained a level of independence but each case will be dealt with on an individual basis. |
| where will it be based ? |
| Our initial volunteer roles are based on site at Marquis House, 33 Eastgate, Leeds, LS2 7RD. As part of the volunteer experience, later placement will be based in another partner health and social care agency within the city. Volunteers chosing to support the rehab provision will accompany individuals visiting and/or travelling to detox/rehab facilities. |
| how will I know what to do? |
| All volunteers beginning the 12 session Induction Programme (Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am - 1pm) will attend various sessions covering policies such as Health and Safety, Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities as well as fun team building exercises. The Volunteer Manager will provide induction for individual roles, alongside other staff who work in the project. The Volunteer Manager will provide regular guidance and support through regular one-to-one supervision sessions. |
