Session 7& 8 Team Work Session 9 - Health& Safety

Team work is an essential element of our working practice at Multiple Choice. In session 7 the group goes off project and takes part in a team building exercise.e.g bowling.

In session 8, existing volunteers join the group and feed-back on their experiences of volunteering at Multiple Choice with opportunities for questions and answers. This is followed by team building exercises

Multiple Choice's Health and Safety Officer runs this session covering general issues such as fire safety. We also look at more specific issues such as blood spills, and the group is introduced to the Multiple Choice Health and Safety policy and Risk Assessment.

Session 10 - Presentation Skills Session 11 - Safeguarding Children, Vulnerable Adults and Equal Opportunities
This session develops communication skills, and helps to build confidence through preparing a presentation to deliver to the group. This session also touches on other areas relating to group working including delivery and monitoring and evaluation.
An introduction to Multiple Choice's policies, and the wider issues associated with all of the above. Uses example scenarios to highlight good practice, and to underline agreed protocols within the city of Leeds.
Session 12 - Your role at Multiple Choice Additional Information
The different roles and responsibilities are outlined, and more general information about how volunteers fit into Multiple Choice is discussed. There is also a visit to another drug service to gain a different perspective.

Each volunteer will sit down with the Volunteer Manager halfway through the programme in order to feedback onprogress so far and highlight any areas of uncertainty or concern, and again at the end of the 6 weeks for a more formal review.

Each week the volunteers complete a learning journal to document what they have learnt, and skills they have gained. At the end of the programme volunters will be able to review this to see how far they have come.
