Volunteering at Multiple Choice

GOLDST

Volunteers have been an integral part of our service since Multiple Choice began in 1999. Volunteering can be seen as an oppuntunity for someone to give something back, and can also create an opportunity for people who haven't been involved in drug services to gain experience/ qualifications.

Why volunteer at Multiple Choice?

We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for anyone undertaking a voluntary role. This is provided in a number of ways:

  • Monthly supervision
  • Day to day support
  • Rewarding Roles
  • Expenses
  • Structured 6 week Induction Programme
  • Monthly Training
  • Celebrations
  • Fun Activities
  • Mentors

Volunteers are recruited twice yearly in September and March and undergo a 6 week Induction Programme. We have a peer mentoring scheme which offers every new volunteer support during this time.

During the Induction Programme you are also supervised by the Volunteer Manager in order to assess your suitability for the project.

All volunteer roles are guided by several key policies including confidentiality, code of conduct, equal opportunities, safe guarding children and health and safety.

The 6 week Induction Programme is devised as a tool kit for the volunteer, incorporating a range of topics including presentation skills, team building and basis drug awareness.

Roles

Having completed the 6 weeks Induction Programme, volunteers can either take part in group work support roles, with a progression on to being a rehab escort or buddy a client.

There is also a mentor role for those who are interested in supporting new volunteers.

We also offer more specific roles such as a Trustee or Art/ IT group work support, which require experience or qualifications in the relevant area.

We ask for volunteers to commit for a trial time of 3 months and complete all training.

For more info on roles please click here.

For an application form and for more information please contact our Volunteer Manager Daisy Davey by email: daisy.davey@multiplechoice.org.uk or phone on, 0113 2456616.
